University Clinic for Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine
The University Clinic for Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine Vienna is Austria’s largest paediatric facility. It treats children and adolescents with acute and chronic serious conditions according to the principles of evidence-based medicine. Its multidisciplinary experts specialise in a wide range of conditions, from premature babies to young adults. This is reflected in 26 specialist outpatient clinics, 12 diagnostic and therapeutic specialist areas and 10 levels organised around different medical focuses.
As part of the Medical University of Vienna, the clinic conducts research in neuroscience, neonatology, rare diseases, infectiology, immunology, allergology, neuro-oncology, organ-specific diseases, metabolic and endocrine disorders, coagulation and mental health.
With the motto “Specialists for the child”, the paediatric clinic focuses on joint care for children with complex and chronic conditions. The interdisciplinary team works with children and their families, involves them in decisions and helps them stay close to the hospital.
Ronald McDonald House offers ideal accommodation, a home away from home and a private place to rest. Staying there simplifies families’ daily hospital visits and makes a gradual transition home possible, providing security, time together in an everyday setting and the ability to reach the hospital quickly when medically necessary.
“I am grateful that Ronald McDonald House is now available next to the children’s hospital for the families we care for. The families have one less worry.”
Univ. Prof. Dr Susanne Greber-Platzer, Head of the University Clinic for Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine
